Escherichia coli strain:EC121 Genome sequencing and assembly

Escherichia coli is one of the most important pathogens isolated from extraintestinal infection worldwide. Extraintestinal Pathogenic E. coli (ExPEC) could be classified depending on the set of its virulence factors, but some strains that lacks the virulence factors related intrinsic virulence could be considered as opportunist pathogen and in general are neglected. This project focus in the investigation of virulence and resistance proprieties of strains that were isolated from extraintestinal infection, mainly bloodstream infection, and where the E. coli strains do not harbor the intrinsic virulence. The aim of this project is to produce data to help in development of alternative therapies to extraintestinal infection caused by E. coli and enlarge the knowledge about virulence.
