资源简介:
Birmingham Archaeology was commissioned in February 2010 by the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust, to undertake an historic building record in respect of the Ward 10 building at Heartlands Hospital, Bordesley Green East, Birmingham, West Midlands. The programme of recording was required by the Birmingham City Council Planning Archaeologist in advance of demolition works related to the creation of a new Out Patients Department building at the site. Heartlands Hospital originated as an 'Infectious Diseases Hospital' built on land external to the city in 1895. Subsequently enlarged, the hospital was 'generalised' in 1953 and saw significant investment and development after the mid-1960s, following a merger with several other city institutions. Much of the built fabric on the site post dates 1970.
