The very beginning phase of gene gain and loss.. Drosophila melanogaster

The aim of investigating gene gain and loss is to get a complete picture of the life history of genes, i.e. how do new genes get fixed in the population and how and why some gene gets lost from the genome. Our previous work shows that new genes in human genomes have been found relevant in evolution and biology of humans. By performing genome meta-analysis on current omics datasets, we plan to figure out whether transcription of new, and also fast-evolving, gene is biased to some tissues or cancer types, detailed investigate what's happening in the very beginning phase of gene gain and loss and try to find out the evolutionary force behind it.
