Familiarity with the term LGBT among Japanese 2019

According to a survey conducted in November 2019 about diversity in the workplace, around 93 percent of Japanese respondents were aware of the existence of LGBT individuals in society. Approximately seven percent of respondents stated not to have heard about the term before.The acronym LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender and has been used since the 1990s. It is an umbrella term for individuals identifying as non-heterosexual or non-cisgender, with the latter meaning that the individual's gender identity does not match their sex assigned at birth.

根据2019年11月进行的一项关于职场多元化的调查，大约93%的日本受访者意识到社会中存在LGBT个体。约7%的受访者表示在此之前未曾听闻该术语。LGBT这一缩写代表女同性恋、男同性恋、双性恋和跨性别者，自20世纪90年代以来被广泛使用。它是用于指代那些认同为非异性恋或非跨性别者的统称，其中‘非跨性别者’意指个人的性别认同与其出生时被指定的性别不符。
