资源简介:
This collection is referred to as “Archaeological Survey of 3040 Acres at Strom Thurmond Lake 1997-1999.” This name is consistent throughout the finding aid, the file folders, and the box labels. The extent of this collection is nine and a half (9.5) linear inches. The documentation for this collection was originally stored in one acidic cardboard box in acidic folders. No original order was discerned for the materials. Many of the documents required flattening. Some documents contained torn edges, and these were mended with acidfree tissue mending tape. The final report is present and is in good condition. Volume I of the final report contains a plastic spiral binding. Volume II was also included in the documents, and this was unbound. Volume I appears to have been completed after Volume II, with Volume I dated July 1999 and Volume II dated October 1998. The contractor utilized a large amount of field site numbers during the investigation. A majority of the field site numbers were later assigned site numbers via the Smithsonian Institution Trinomial designation system. When site numbers were not assigned for the corresponding field site numbers, the field site numbers were listed in the “Provenience” section of the associated database. Tables that match the field site numbers to the state site numbers can be found in the final report on the following pages: ii, viii, 27, and 169. There were 59 occurrences found, although the final report says that 58 were present. In several photographs, abbreviations were used to label the artifacts being photographed. In these certain cases, the abbreviations were recorded in the associated database. These abbreviations most likely stand for: “LN”- Lot Number, “ST”- Shovel Test, “Occ”- Occurrence, and “Surf”- Surface.
