The road network structure of the Roman Empire reveals the centrality of provincial capitals: Supplementary datasets

The files contained in this repository are supplementary data for the article 'Pažout et al. (forthcoming) The empirically informed spatially explicit analysis of the structure of roads in the Roman Empire.' These datasets represent: a) data derived from the original dataset of Roman roads (Brughmans et al. 2024), b) polygon data defining analytical units enriched with topographical and cultural data, and c) data representing results generated with analytical tools (orientation, Geographicaly Weighted Regression). This data fully document the research inputs and outputs used and generated during the research which are not contained in the road dataset (Brughmans et al. 2024), Extended Data and Supplementary Information of the submitted journal paper.
