资源简介:
In Alberta, Canada, twelve (12) brook stickleback fish were collected from the neutral Buck Lake (pH = 7.3), and twelve (12) additional stickleback were collected from the alkaline Buffalo Lake (pH = 9.3). After acclimating both populations to control water conditions (pH = 8.0) for a period of two months, fish were then individually exposed to control water or alkaline water (pH = 9.5) for a period of four days. After exposure, fish were euthanized to sample RNA from their gill tissue. The RNA data provided was used to determine if gene expression differed between two populations of stickleback exposed to two different environmental conditions, and if part of the differential expression could be attributed to Buffalo Lake stickleback adapting to alkaline waters.
