Global, Regional, and National CO2 Emission Estimates from Fossil Fuel Burning, Cement Production, and Gas Flaring

These data sets provide time series estimates of global, regional, and national CO2 emissions from the combustion of fossil fuels, gas flaring, and the production of cement. The data sets are compiled as part of the Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center, Trends Online: A Compendium of Data on Global Change. Data records are presented in multipage formats and include tables; graphs; discussions of methods for collecting, measuring, and reporting the data; trends in the data, and references to literature providing further information. Instructions for citing specific data are provided. All data appearing in Trends Online are available online at [http://cdiac.esd.ornl.gov/trends/trends.htm] and on digital media, on request, from CDIAC at no cost.

Data coverage includes total estimated CO2 emissions from gaseous, liquid, and solid fossil fuels, cement production, gas flaring for the globe, regions, and countries. Estimates of emissions per capita and emissions from bunker fuels are also provided. Data are updated as soon as new data are available. The regional (and temporal) coverage includes: Africa (from 1884); Central America, South America, and the Caribbean (from 1884); Centrally Planned Asia (from 1892); Centrally Planned Europe (Eastern Europe) (from 1800); Far East (from 1858); Germany (from 1792); Middle East (from 1865); North America (from 1785); Oceania (from 1851); and Western Europe (from 1751). A list of counties comprising each region is provided. Country-level data are provided for current and former national entities. A breakdown is also provided for total of CO2 emissions from fossil fuel use and cement manufacture for those countries listed in Annex B of the Kyoto Protocol and for those countries not listed in Annex B.
