Chloroplast sequencing data of loblolly pine

Chloroplasts are widely utilized due to their compact genomes and the presence of essential genetic information. While chloroplast inheritance is predominantly maternal in the majority of plant species, paternal inheritance has been observed in certain angiosperms and a majority of gymnosperms. In this study, in order to understand the intra-population variation of loblolly pine chloroplast genome and identify the parent-progeny genetic pattern of chloroplasts, the chloroplast sequences of 129 individuals from the breeding population of loblolly pine were sequenced.
