AuthorKonrad KulikowskiData descriptionThe data were collected as part of a research project under the working title "Psychology of Pay 2021” Designed, conducted and financed by Konrad Kulikowski Purpose of the projectThe aim of this study was to collect data that might help better understand psychological aspects of pay, as pay fairness, pay transparency and pay perception relationships with employees attitudes. This project is exploratory in nature.VariablesWe collected basic demographic variables and set of variables related to four main dimensions of pay fairness perception i.e. distributive, procedural, informational and interpersonal fairness. Moreover, we use several single-item measures to capture employees attitudes and opinion as: Intention to quit, Supervisor satisfaction, Co-workers satisfaction, Pay rise satisfaction, Pay level satisfaction, Emotional commitment, Stress level, Exhaustion, Health impairment, Overall fairness, Pay transparency, Pay for performance, Pay for performance appraisal, Citizenship behaviours, Counterproductive work behaviours, Task performance, Helping behaviours, Job satisfaction, Work engagement, Employer loyalty, Burnout and Overall pay fairness.A detailed description of all variables is provided in the codebook file.ProcedureThe study was conducted online using the Google forms https://forms.gle/758WUyXZa7MYJ44V7 via Prolific online system in September 2021. There was convenient sampling among prolific portal members that speak Polish and are Polish residents who meet following criteria: First language: Polish, Employment status: Full-time, Entrepreneurship: I have in the past, I intend to in the future, does not apply, Student status: No. To obtain a sample of about 200 responses balanced in regard to respondents gender, we run two prolific studies for about 100 participants, one accessible for mean and one accessible for women only.ParticipantsSample consists of 213 participants, 109 (51%) women and 102 (48%) men, 2 participants declared other gender (1%). Mean age was 30,3 (SD = 6,83), mean tenure in current employer was 3,64 (SD = 3,65). Most participants work on fixed term job contract 143 (67%) and employment contract for an indefinite period 59 (28%), the rest i.e 11 (5%) work for a specific task / order contract. The mean monthly working hours among participants 150 (SD = 42). Average monthly net pay was 3756 (SD = 1548) median = 3450.Education levels among participants: basic vocational 5 (2%), secondary (high school or technical college) 71 (33%), higher, I degree (bachelor, engineer) 48 (23%), higher, II degree (master, master engineer) 85 (40%), higher, III degree (doctoral and higher) 4 (2%). ISCO Occupations among participants were as follows: Armed forces 1 (0.5%), Managers 16 (7.5%), Professionals 65 (30.5%), Technicians and other associate professionals 14 (7%), Office workers 79 (37%), Service and sales workers 15 (7%), Skilled farmers, forest workers and fishermen 1 (0.5%), Industrial workers and craftsmen 5 (2%), Plant and machine operators and assemblers 11 (5%), Workers doing simple work 6 (3%).
