资源简介:
This dataset contains anonymized demographic and lifestyle information from a case-control study investigating potential risk factors associated with Periodontal Disease (PD). The data includes 64 sample records, with variables covering group assignment, disease status, age range, sex, antiretroviral therapy (ART) duration, alcohol consumption, smoking status, education level, and occupation.Variables and Categories:Sample_ID: A unique identifier for each participant.Group: The study group assignment (Case for individuals with periodontal disease, Control for healthy individuals).PD_status: The periodontal disease status for cases (mild, moderate, or severe); marked as healthy for controls.Age: The participant's age, recorded in decade ranges (e.g., 30-39, 40-49).Sex: The biological sex of the participant (male, female).ART_duration: The duration of Antiretroviral Therapy in years (e.g., 5).Drinks_per_day: The number of standard alcoholic drinks consumed per day. One standard drink is defined as containing 14 grams (17.7 ml) of pure alcohol, based on the U.S. standard drink equivalent [National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA)]. This is equivalent to 12 fluid ounces of regular beer (∼5% alcohol by volume [ABV]), or 5 fluid ounces of wine (∼12% ABV), or 1.5 fluid ounces of distilled spirits (∼40% ABV)Cigarettes: Binary indicator of current cigarette smoking status. 0 = Non-smoker, 1 = Smoker.level_of_education: The highest level of education completed (e.g., secondary school).Occupation: The primary occupation of the participant (e.g., manual laborer, self-employed).Potential Research Applications:
This dataset is valuable for researchers in dentistry, public health, and epidemiology. It can be used to:Investigate correlations between lifestyle factors (smoking, alcohol) and periodontal disease.Analyze socioeconomic factors (education, occupation) as determinants of oral health.Study the intersection of systemic health (e.g., HIV/ART treatment) and periodontal conditions.Develop and validate models for assessing periodontal disease risk.
