Gene database of Methanosarcina mazei Go1

<i>Methanosarcina mazei</i> is an obligate anaerobic, non-motile, methane producing archaeon. Found in sewage and decaying leaf litter, the archaeon has an optimum growth pH of 6.8 to 7.2 and can aggregate to form irregular clumps of cells. Sometimes, such clumps could exceed 1000 microns in diameter. This work sought to provide fundamental information about the genetic repertoire of <i>M. mazei</i> Go1 by parsing its annotated genome sequence downloaded from Genbank. Comprising gene name, gene function, and gene sequence, the resource should find use in a variety of fundamental microbiology studies seeking to understand the genetic basis of observed phenotype of this archaeon.
