Opuntia genome assembly

This project aims to generate a draft nuclear genome and to assemble, annotate, and analyze the chloroplast genome of Opuntia ficus-indica and Opuntia pubescens. For this purpose, total DNA was extracted from both species and sequenced using Illumina technology. The reads obtained were filtered and processed to assemble both the preliminary nuclear genome and the chloroplast genome. The latter was subsequently annotated through gene prediction and analyzed comparatively with chloroplast genomes from related species.
