P-Fertilizer usage estimates at the global, US-national and US county scales

Using three main open access datasets (FAO, International Plant Nutrition Institute, and the US census), we collated statistics of P-fertlizer usage over time at three spatial scales: worldwide (1961-2014), within the conterminous US (1961-2014), and at the level of 3055 individual counties (1987-2014). The purpose of this dataset was to compile data on P-fertilizer use and convert these numbers into their corresponding P contents to contrast this source of P to that of glyphosate (orthophosphate pesticide).
