Internationalization of Chinese universities

This dataset presents the results of qualitative interviews conducted to examine the strategies used by Chinese universities for internationalization. The study hypothesized that successful internationalization efforts require comprehensive organizational strategies, administrative support, government collaboration, student engagement initiatives, cultural diversity promotion, technological advancements, curriculum development, faculty engagement, student support services, and alumni involvement. The research involved in-depth interviews with eleven participants from various roles within Chinese universities. Thematic analysis revealed multifaceted organizational, administrative, and student-centered strategies. The study emphasized the importance of government collaboration, cultural inclusivity, technological enhancements, and robust curriculum and faculty development. Notable findings suggested a need for proactive government engagement, impactful student support services, and alumni networks. This dataset is a valuable resource for researchers, policymakers, and educators who wish to learn about effective internationalization practices in Chinese higher education. It provides nuanced perspectives for informed decision-making and further exploration of related themes.
