In this repository, two datasets alongside Python and MATLAB codes developed for data analysis and figure representation for an article published in Ocean Modelling were compiled. The synchrony between surface (SMHWs) and bottom marine heatwaves (BMHWs) along the five Spanish Marine Demarcations was determined by computing Pearson’s correlation coefficient between the total monthly SMHW days and the total monthly BMHW days, providing a measure of temporal correlation. Furthermore, integrated exposure to MHWs was established as the overlap of tercile combinations involving both BMHW and SMHW synchrony, together with integrated cumulative intensity, resulting in nine distinct exposure levels.
