Data description for Romano et al. - Artificial paradises: man-made sites for the conservation of amphibians in a changing climate - Submitted to Frontiers in Ecology and the Environment - June 2023 NOTE: these data are private and only intended for peer review. The repository will be made publicly available after acceptance. <br> 1) File "Water_Sites.csv" contains locations of amphibian water sites used to model ecological connectivty and to build graphs. Colum specification: ID: progressive number of water site SubArea: Code of the stuy sub area Lat; Lon: Latitude and Longitude of the water site AWS: 0/1 column indicating if the water site is an AWS(1) or NWS(0) NOTE: To ensure the conservation of protected species, the quality of distribution records reported here was degraded to a precision of about 1km. The correct coordinates were used for the analysis <br> 2) File "Omniscape_Input.zip" is an archive containing the GEOTIFF files required to perform connectivity analysis with software Omniscape. For each study sub-area two files are given: Current_sources: is the file containing the current source points/nodes Resistance: is the resistance to current / friction layer buit from the Habitat Suitability Model. <br> 3)File "Current_Flow_and_Node_Importance.csv" contains, for each water site in the study sub areas, i) values of Normalized Current Flow (NCF) extracted from Omniscape maps ii) values of node importace calculate by the probability of connectivity index DPC. These values have been used to produce boxplot figures and to perform Kruskall Wallis tests. Column specification: ID: progressive number of water site SubArea: Code of the stuy sub area AWS: 0/1 column indicating if the water site is an AWS(1) or NWS(0) Node_importance: value of the probability of connectivity index Normalized_Current_Flow: value of Normalized Current Flow extracted from the omniscape output maps <br> 4) File "Climate_Data.csv" contains downscaled climatic data used to model climatic niche. Column specification: ID: progressive number of water site Salamandrina;Tricar;Lissotriton;Bufbuf;Bomvar;Hylint;Ranita;Pelles: 0/1 columns indicating presence/absence of a given taxon in a water site. Species codes are detailed in the manuscript. AWS: 0/1 column indicating if the water site is an AWS(1) or NWS(0) Elevation: elevation (m) above the sea level Bio1: mean annual temperature Bio10:mean temperature of warmest quarter Bio12:mean annual precipitation Bio14:precipitation of driest month Bio18:precipitation of warmest quarter MSP:mean summer precipitation ( May to September) DMA:De Martonne aridity index (assumes lower values forarid climate) AHM:annual heat: moisture index (similar to shm but relative to a yearly period) SHM:summer heat: moisture index (decadally-averaged ratio between mean warmest month temperature and mean summer precipitation, hot and dry summers have high values)
