Place-based Boston Map Icons

The map icons in this dataset were created on June 17, 2025 in the Leventhal Map and Education Center (LMEC) at the Boston Public Library as part of a workshop titled, "Mapping Boston through Place: Creating a Map Icon Library for the City." Meghan Kelly facilitated the workshop and collated the map icons as part of the Designer-in-Residence Fellowship at LMEC. Bhumika Dasari, former graduate student at Syracuse University, processed these map icons for public sharing and use within a QGIS map icon plug-in.
