Arsenic-bearing sulfide-rich tailings from the abandoned Long Lake Gold Mine (ON, Canada) were sub-aerially deposited in three tailings areas (TA-01, TA-02 and TA-03). Over the past 100 years, extensive sulfide oxidation in the tailings impoundments has resulted in formation of acid mine drainage (AMD). A microbiological characterization at TA-01 was conducted.
