The ecological impacts of chemical pollution on wildlife

Chemical pollution is increasing worldwide, posing a serious threat to wildlife. To protect biodiversity, we must understand how animals respond to these pollutants. Animal behaviour is increasingly used to assess the impacts of chemical pollution, but opaque research practices often limit how useful these studies are for environmental decision-making. This thesis investigated how chemical pollutants affect wildlife behaviour and examined the current use of open, reliable, and transparent research practices in behavioural ecotoxicology. My research generated new insights into the impacts of widespread contaminants and identified practical ways to improve the transparency, reliability, and usefulness of research in this field.
