In this study, in order to determine whether differential DNA methylation in et mutants affect gene expression, a RNA-Seq analysis of 10-days-old wild-type, et1-1, et2-3 and et1-1/et2-3 seedlings (in Col-0 background), was performed using three biological replicates. Transcriptome analysis revealed that among the genes most differentially expressed (Col-0 vs et1-1 and Col-0 vs et1-1/et2-3) are transposable elements of the Athila6 family of LTR/Gypsy retrotransposons.
