Klebsiella oxytoca is an emerging bacterial pathogen with multidrug resistance correlated to that of Klebsiella pneumoniae. Our project seeks to resolve genomic and other multiomic information defining the virulence and antimicrobial resistance pattern of Klebsiella oxytoca strains from East Africa. We envisage Klebsiella oxytoca as an underrepresented opportunistic pathogen with potential to cause diseases similar to those of Klebsiella pneumoniae, a better described pathogen. Thus we employ multiple omics-based techniques to divulge the relevance of Klebsiella oxytoca strains for effective diagnostics and management.
