Rhizoctonia solani transcriptome fluctuations during early and late infection stages of soybean

Rhizoctonia solani anastomosis group 1 subgroup IA is affecting soybean at an increasing rate and no resistant soybean varieties exist. Additionally, no studies have been published examining soybean responses to R. solani or the responses of R. solani during infection. The goal of this study was to examine, for the first time, the transcriptome fluctuations of R. solani at the onset of necrosis and 24 hours post-onset of necrosis to determine what genes are important during different stages of infection. Results of this study can help with the development of targeted control methods and soybean breeding programs.
