资源简介:
In the study, the KwaShushu Hot Springs is used as an illustration to evaluate the views of the local population about this valuable natural asset as a tourist attraction. The research also seeks to examine how CBNRM could help the community if it were to be implemented and managed as a tool for development. The area is situated in South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal province, in the iLembe District, which lies in an administrative region known as Maphumulo Local Municipality. The exact site is between Nkandla and Ntunjambili on the lower uTugela river in Northern KwaZulu Natal.KwaShushu Hot Springs area is located on tribal territory that is managed by the local government and is part of the Maphumulo Local Municipality. The majority of the municipality is rural and is made up largely of tribal territory that the Ingonyama Trust manages on behalf of the nearby people. If properly managed and appropriately packaged, the nearby area's rich natural resources and historical significance could serve as a magnet for organised ecotourism. The local municipality, which oversees the region at the local government level, recognised this area as a viable location for regional economic and tourism growth in its Integrated Development Plan (IDP) 2018-2022. In July, which is a midwinter holiday month, the hot water draws many families, and the island turns into an unofficial camping site. The benefits that this natural resource offers to the community are still to be quantified. Therefore, the CBNRM strategy is viewed as a chance to do this by formalising the usage of the hot spring in order to directly benefit the community and protect the natural resource for use in the future (Stone and Nyaupane, 2014). This can therefore present that chance, considering the gap in the monitoring and evaluation of the CNBRM. Moreover, CBNRM must grow into a response to the question of how to best harness the exploitation of local resources to prioritise local, but sustainable, economic and social development.
