Bacteria and archaea of the Columbia, Willamette, and Sandy Rivers (Oregon, USA), 16S rRNA gene amplicon library metadata

Bacterial and archaeal communities in the Columbia and Willamette Rivers in the Portland, OR, USA, region were characterized by 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing as part of the Lewis & Clark College Microbial Ecology courses (spring 2022, fall 2023, and spring 2025). In 2022, whole-water (>0.2 µm) samples were collected from: the Willamette River; the Columbia River above the confluence with the Willamette; and the Columbia River just downstream of the confluence with the Willamette. In 2023 and 2025, samples were collected from: the Sandy River; the Willamette River; and the Columbia River just downstream of the confluence with the Willamette.
