Deep sequencing expression analysis of microRNA and their target genes in Atlantic salmon. Salmo salar

The aim of this project was to discover Salmo salar (Atlantic salmon) microRNAs empirically and to begin to investigate their functional roles. The objectives were to sequence and characterise a comprehensive microRNA repertoire and to profile a reference expression level in S. salar fry. This discovery and characterisation is a first step to understanding the role of miRNA in regulating gene expression and downstream biological processes in S. salar.
