The native (Poland) amphipod Gammarus fossarum was identified with an infection caused by a novel rickettsia-like organism. Infected tissues from the host were used in a metagenomic analysis providing 51 individual contigs that associated with the novel RLO. The project aims to taxonomically identify this novel RLO within a new genus (Aquarickettsiella) and species (crustaci).
