Scheyville National Park African Olive Elimination Project

The Scheyville Community Group will undertake this project with the sponsorship of Hawkesbury Environment Network Inc. This project will remove all remaining mature and seed-bearing African Olives in Scheyville National Park. The project will utilise the Mura Mittigar Aboriginal Land Management Group to cut down remaining stands of mature seed-bearing olives and volunteers to remove all small olives. The NPWS will conduct a burn over the site to kill off the established seed bed, ensuring a major reduction in regeneration and reduced potential for spread into areas already cleared. The project will benefit the threatened Cumberland Plain Shale Woodlands and Shale-Gravel Transition Forest community and the endangered Pea Bush (Pultenea parviflora).
