Parallel cholinergic circuit in oculomotor nucleus to control eye movements and REM sleep

This work has potential insights into the functional relationship between REM and REM sleep exit and the microcircuitry responsible for two important aspects of neural mechanism of sleep exit where motor related function is preparing the mammal to exit REM sleep stage with elevated motor capabilities that would be needed upon waking.
