Phylogenetics: back to basics dataset
收藏资源简介:
This dataset is associated with the Galaxy Training Network tutorial "Phylogenetics: back to basics". It contains a subset of anolis lizard DNA sequences, from Jackman, Larson, de Queiroz & Losos (Phylogenetic Relationships and Tempo of Early Diversfication in Anolis Lizards; Systematic Biology 1999 48(2):254-285; https://doi.org/10.1080/106351599260283). DNA sequences were obtained from Genbank. The sequences are from the mitochondrial NADH dehydrogenase subunit 2 gene (ND2) and five transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, with an average sequence length of 1419.109 and a range of [1329,1727]. We are using a small set of sequences because phylogenetic estimation on many sequences is computationally very intensive, and can take weeks of time even on a high-performance computer. It is not uncommon for a phylogenetic analysis to span hundreds, or even thousands, of taxa. Files in this record: anolis-raw.fst : FASTA file of raw, unaligned sequences anolis-trimmed-aligned-clustal.fst : FASTA file of trimmed and aligned sequences This Galaxy Training Network tutorial ‘Phylogenetics: back to basics’ was developed by Professor Michael Charleston from the University of Tasmania in collaboration with Australian BioCommons.
