Microbiota analysis in pig milk

The purpose of this experiment was to clarify the microbiota in pig milk. The milk sample was collected from healthy sows (Landrace � Yorkshire � Duroc) which fed corn-soybean based diet. Milk samples were collected in a sterile tube and later suspended in MRS (Man, Rogosa and Sharpe) medium (200 ul). During milk sampling, sterile gloves were worn, nipple and the surrounding area were soaked with 75% ethyl alcohol to avoid the contamination by skin bacteria. The milk samples were immediately refrigerated at 4°C. After transportation, milk samples were dispensed into serum tubes, mixed with equal amount of 60% glycerol, and stored at -80 °C for future analysis.
