The Instituto Agriario San Michele all'Adige has hired Myriad Genetics to perform WGS sequencing of a heterozygotic cultivar of the Pinot Noir grape. This is 7X coverage with finishing accomplished using the 454 technology to generate 4X coverage of short reads. The understandings developed in this endeavor will aid in the development of new grape cultivars that are high yielding, as well as being disease and stress resistant. It will also help in the development of new vineyard and winery diagnostic tools.
