The project "Caves as Reservoirs of Novel and Re-emerging Zoonoses: Ecological Monitoring and Real-Time Metagenomic Analysis" focuses on exploring caves as hotspots for zoonotic pathogens. Situated in northern Bulgaria, it includes three caves known for their unique ecosystems, providing ideal conditions for pathogen reservoirs. Through real-time metagenomic analysis, the study aims to uncover microbial diversity and ecological factors driving zoonotic emergence.
