TheseguidelineshavebeendevelopedinrecognitionthatinfectionwithZikavirusmaypresentarisktobloodsafety,andinconsiderationofthedeclarationon1February2016bytheWHODirector-GeneralofaPublicHealthEmergencyofInternationalConcernwithregardtoclustersofmicrocephalyandotherneurologicaldisorders,potentiallyassociatedwithZikavirus.CurrentlythereislimitedknowledgeofZikavirusbiologyandlackofdefinitiveevidenceofalinkbetweeninfectionandpotentialcomplications.Theseguidelineswillberegularlyreviewedandupdatedasnewinformationbecomesavailable.
