Laboratory enrichment of freshwater microbial communities around axenic cyanobacterial host strains Raw sequence reads

This project investigates the assembly and stability of microbial communities enriched from freshwater environments in the presence of axenic cyanobacterial host strains. Using a standardized laboratory protocol, we co-cultured five model cyanobacteria with microbial inocula from diverse freshwater sources to develop stable and reproducible consortia. The resulting communities were characterized using 16S rRNA amplicon and shotgun metagenomic sequencing to identify taxonomic composition, functional potential, and core microbiome members. This dataset supports research on microbial cooperation, nutrient cycling, and host-microbiome interactions in oxygenic phototrophic systems.
