Up-, mid- and downstream of Taiping River as well as wastewater effluents from zoo, hospital and slaughterhouse situated along the Taiping River were sampled and microbial community structure and diversity were examined using 16S rDNA metagenomics approach. Results showed that the predominant bacteria taxa and their distribution in riverine waters were different from the wastewater effluents, indicating the anthropogenic implications on the microbial community structure and diversity.
