Voorlichting over de toekomst en waarden 1977-1978

<p>Testing hypotheses about relations between values and attitudes. In a field experiment people were informed on scenario's describing different futures in Dutch society. In the first scenario the value equality ( of housing and income ) was to be realized, in the second environmental protection. The assumption that value expression is an important motivation that predicts the reaction of dutch citizens was tested. A political value list was constructed for this purpose. Four groups ( 2 control and 2 experimental groups ) were given information on the consequences of realizing different scenario's and their reactions ( changes in attitudes towards those scenario's ) assessed. The main conclusion is that the expression of values is a weak motive for behaviour. The implications for communication campaigns are discussed.
