Clinical evaluation of a standardized device for the sampling and molecular diagnosis of fungal skin infections

We evaluated the translational potential of a new diagnostic method based on skin sampling using a standardized, minimally-invasive device - microprojection array (MPA) followed by molecular identification (qPCR and NGS) in a clinical cohort with cutaneous fungal disease. Skin samples collected using scrapes, the clinical standard, was subjected to the same workflow and analyzed in parallel.
