Shotgun metagenomics of mouse gut microbiota after cephaloridine treatment

This study investigates the impact of cephaloridine treatment on the gut microbiome of mice using shotgun metagenomic sequencing. The experimental design includes both pre-treatment and control samples, with variables such as sex, age carefully documented. Mice were approximately 54 weeks old at the start of the treatment, representing a mature age at which microbiome changes may be particularly relevant to age-associated physiological states. By analyzing microbial community composition and functional potential before and after antibiotic exposure, the study aims to elucidate how cephaloridine perturbs gut microbial ecology.
