We investigated the impact of the mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) mutations on gut microbiota, using conplastic mouse strains. We used a conplastic strain carrying 90 mutations in mtDNA (B6-mtNZB) and the control (B6) strain. Stool samples were obtained from mice at different ages (young, middle and old) and deep-sequenced for 16S rRNA gene (v1-v2) to compare the microbial composition between the strains at different stage of the life.
