资源简介:
This dataset, part of the Master Thesis of S.J. van Leent, contains the temporal flow layer thickness and velocity of 155 simulated overtopping waves. These flows are created with the new indoor Wave Overtopping Simulator (iWOS). Different settings, such as gate opening height, gate opening speed, volume and flume roughness, are changed to study the influence of these settings on the created flow.
MethodologyThe iWOS prototype was used to create 155 overtopping waves. This device contains a reservoir volume of 900 L/m (300L which can flow on a width of 0.32m) and a radial gate whose opening settings can be altered. After the simulator, a 3m long, 0.32m wide artificial dike was created with a slope of 1V:3H. Multiple roughness setups were constructed on this dike: a smooth flume (phenol epoxy coating, type 1), roughness elements (amplitude of 18mm and wavelength of 360mm, type 2) and roughness elements covered with artificial turf(fake grass, type 3). Maximum gate opening heights of 10, 25 and 50 cm were used. Gate opening speed profiles of 0.1-0.5 m/s (profile 1) and 0.2-1.0 m/s (profile 2) were used. More information about the gate opening speed profiles can be found in the Thesis. Volumes of 100-900 L/m were used. At least 3 repetitions were performed for each setting to take the unsteadiness of the flow into account. Not all combinations were tested due to time constraints. The flow thickness was measured by using 2 mic+35 IU TC ADMs, placed along the slope. The flow velocity was measured with an Airmar DST800 Triducer, placed at the end of the slope. A GoPro HERO 10 was used to capture video footage (not included in the dataset, but available on request). More information about the methodology can be found in the master thesis titled "Simulating Overtopping Waves on a Landward Dike Slope" by S.J. van Leent, TU Delft.
File format and data informationThe .ASC files are saved with a naming format of RoughnessType[type]_Volume[L/m]_GateHeight[cm]_GateSpeedProfile[type]_Repetition[-]. In the .XLSX file, general information about all .ASC files can be found. This is explained more elaborately in the README.txt file.
