The elongation of mesocotyl plays an important role in the emergence of maize deep-sowing seeds. This study was designed to explore the function of exogenous salicylic acid (SA) and 6-benzylaminopurine (6-BA) in the growth of maize mesocotyl and to examine its regulatory network. At 3cm and 15cm sowing depths, different concentrations of exogenous SA and 6-BA were established. The effects of exogenous SA and 6-BA on the morphology, cells, and differential gene expression of mesocotyls in maize inbred lines with different deep sowing tolerance were studied.
