This study tests high-throughput sequencing in ancient dental samples from northern Mexico (A.D.1200-1450) and Northwest Costa Rica (A.D.800-1250) to reconstruct mitogenomes. A second objective was to determine climatic effects on DNA preservation for this areas. The third goal was to identify haplogroups and population affinities for eight mitogenomes.
