Images from Archaeological Works at the Sunbury Building, Xaverian College, Victoria Park, Manchester, November 2023 - April 2024

This collection comprises images from a historic building recording and structural watching brief at Sunbury Building, Xaverian College, Lower Park Road, Manchester. This work was undertaken by TJC Heritage Ltd between November 2023 and April 2024. The Sunbury Building, which was built in the late 1850s, is non-designated and located within the Victoria Park Conservation Area. Externally, the building has lost much of its original decoration, although its scale has largely been retained and it is instantly recognisable as originally being a high-quality domestic residence. Internally, there is a high level of survival of decorative finishes which indicates potential former uses of rooms and their position within the strict hierarchy present in Victorian houses.
