Replication package for "The Embodied Real Effective Exchange Rate: Measuring Cost Competitiveness in Global Value Chains"

This replication package contains the MATLAB code, prepared input data, reference results, figures, and diagnostics for the article "The Embodied Real Effective Exchange Rate: Measuring Cost Competitiveness in Global Value Chains" by Martyna Marczak and Thomas Beissinger. The package constructs embodied real effective exchange rates and three benchmark measures at the sectoral and country levels and reproduces the article's empirical analyses. A complete reproduction can be performed in MATLAB R2026a by running run_all. The prepared inputs originate from the World Input-Output Database 2013 Release and the IMF World Economic Outlook Database, April 2026. The authors' original code is provided under the MIT License, the documentation and the authors' reference outputs under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, and the prepared inputs derived from WIOD and from the IMF remain under the terms of their sources, as documented in docs/data-sources.md in the package.
