GLES Cross-Section 2025, Post-Election

The GLES Cross-Section has a long tradition. Comparable cross-sectional surveys have been available to election researchers since 1994. As the cross-sections comprise a large number of questions, the background to voting decisions and voter turnout can be analyzed in depth. Due to the large number of cases, it is also possible to carry out meaningful analyses of subgroups of the electorate. The over-sampling of respondents from eastern Germany also allows east-west comparisons. The content of the study is the observation and analysis of the attitudes, opinions and behaviors of both voters and non-voters. The questionnaire contains Module 6 of the Comparative Study of Electoral Systems (CSES) and is therefore internationally compatible. The German Longitudinal Election Study (GLES) is the central infrastructure project in Germany for the continuous collection and provision of high-quality data for national and international election research. The methodologically diverse surveys of the GLES make it possible to examine the political attitudes and behavior of potential voters and candidates. The GLES has been conducted in close cooperation between the German Society for Electoral Research (DGfW) and GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences since its inception. Der GLES-Querschnitt steht in einer langen Tradition. Seit 1994 stehen den Wahlforschenden vergleichbare Querschnittsbefragungen zur Verfügung. Da die Querschnitte eine große Fragenanzahl umfassen, können die Hintergründe der Wahlentscheidung und Wahlbeteiligung tiefgehend analysiert werden. Aufgrund der hohen Fallzahl ist es zudem möglich, aussagekräftige Analysen von Subgruppen der Wählerschaft durchzuführen. Das Oversampling von Befragten aus Ostdeutschland erlaubt ferner Ost-West-Vergleiche. Inhalt der Studie ist die Beobachtung und Analyse der Einstellungen, Meinungen und Verhaltensweisen sowohl der Wähler:innen als auch der Nichtwähler:innen. Das Frageprogramm enthält das Modul 6 der Comparative Study of Electoral Systems (CSES) und ist damit international anschlussfähig. Die German Longitudinal Election Study (GLES) ist das zentrale Infrastrukturprojekt in Deutschland für die kontinuierliche Erhebung und Bereitstellung von qualitativ hochwertigen Daten für die nationale und internationale Wahlforschung. Die methodisch vielfältigen Umfragen der GLES ermöglichen die Untersuchung der politischen Einstellungen und Verhaltensweisen von Wahlberechtigten sowie der Kandidierenden. Die GLES wird seit Bestehen in enger Kooperation zwischen der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Wahlforschung (DGfW) und GESIS – Leibniz-Institut für Sozialwissenschaften durchgeführt.
