Cluster of Streptococcus gallolyticus subsp. pasteurianus in neonatal intensive care unit and virulence factors. Streptococcus pasteurianus strain:HC-2909-2

We report a nosocomial transmission of S. gallolyticus subsp. pasteurianus among three neonates, one of whom died. Genome analysis of the strains showed a specific pattern of metabolic and regulatory functions as well as of expressed antigens and antibiotic resistance genes that might have contributed to their specific virulence.
