Gene Flow and Island Biogeography (Horornis ruficapilla UCEs)

The major goal of the study was to relate gene flow between island populations and island biogeographic theory. This used targeted capture of ultraconserved elements of all extant subspecies of Horornis ruficapilla, the Fiji Bush Warbler. In doing we, we made a framework for relating island biogeographic theory and gene flow. We found that many of the results from out empirical data matched out neutral model, but a deviation was found that may be driven by movement between islands being hindered by prevailing winds.
