Microbial diversity in earthworm gut and soil affected by micro-/nano-biochar

The introduction of micro- and nano-biochar into agricultural soils has sparked interest due to its potential to improve soil health and crop productivity. However, its impact on microbial diversity within soil ecosystems and the gut microbiota of earthworms, key soil engineers, remains poorly understood. This study explores how micro-/nano-biochar influences microbial communities in both soil and the gut of earthworms. By examining changes in microbial diversity and composition, we aim to uncover whether biochar alters nutrient cycling, soil fertility, or earthworm health. These findings will help clarify the environmental and ecological implications of using biochar in sustainable agriculture.
