LHS 1140 WINERED Spectra 2024B, 2025B

This repository contains supporting documentation for Cherubim et al. 2026 (Science) and WINERED specroscopic data for the observations of LHS 1140 b and c in 2024 and 2025. Everything needed to reproduce the main results and all figures in the main text can be found here.

The raw data can be found in the files labeled "WINERED_20...". Calibration data necessary to reduce the raw data with the WARP pipeline are included ("calibration_XXXXX.zip"). The pre-reduced data products from the WARP reduction pipeline are included in files labeled "LHS1140X_m163...".

lhs1140bc_2024B_reduction.ipynb is a Jupyter notebook containing the main data reduction steps for both planets in the 2024 epoch. The notebook uses WARP data products (found in LHS1140bc_m163_2024B_default.zip) and pickle files provided in this repository. Use this script to reproduce figures 1-3.

lhs1140b_2024B_pwinds.py is a Python script containing the source code to produce figure 4 and to run a grid search of p-winds models to estimate mass loss rate, H:He, etc. The script uses pre-calculated grid search results provided in this repo (lhs1140b_grid_likelihood_results_1132_v26e3.pickle). The script also uses the 2024 transmission spectrum for LHS 1140 b provided in this repo (lhs1140b_trans_spec_GP_IT_vac.pickle) as well as the MUSCLES SED fits files provided in this repo ("hlsp_muscles...").

lhs1140b_2025B_pwinds.ipynb is a Jupyter notebook containing the source code used to produce figure 5 and the normalized SEDs used in the analysis. The notebook uses the 2024 and 2025 transmission spectra for LHS 1140 b provided in this repo (lhs1140b_trans_spec_GP_IT_vac.pickle and lhs1140b_trans_spec_IT_vac_2025B.pickle) as well as the MUSCLES SED fits files provided in this repo ("hlsp_muscles...").
